Willie Parker said opposing teams don't fear the Steelers' running game the way they did in past years.
And the two-time Pro Bowl running back understands why.
"If I was on the defensive side of the ball, I wouldn't respect the running game," Parker said Wednesday, "because we haven't been that successful this year, so we've just got to take our respect."
Parker and the Steelers will try to do that Sunday when they host the San Diego Chargers in an AFC divisional playoff game. They may be in a favorable position to change the direction if not the perception of a ground game that finished 23rd in the NFL this season in rushing (105.6 yards per game) and 29th in yards per carry (3.7).
